Went to the LA Textile Show with Amy today--all day 10-6. Didn't know what to expect but had a great day looking at fabrics and trims. Found some inspirational laminated fabrics in cute patters--think I'll do up some kids aprons for cooking/crafting. This fabric is great for that. Will try them at the boutiques to see how they do. Had a fun time shopping and dinner out together.

My current valentine creations. Each is a one-of-a-kind item available on creationbydesign.etsy.com.

I think valentines day should be celebrated in lots of ways. Fashion in the kitchen is making a comeback from grandma's day. My little girls twirly skirts are a fun, colorful way to dress your toddler or preschooler.

The joy of creating is coming up with new designs, fabric mixes and patterns that are unique. No two will be exactly the same so lots of versitility.

Donna & Bill visit on their way driving west. Had a great time taking them to pier for lunch and shopping Del Mar with Donna while Bill & Jim visited on a streetside bench. I fixed a nice dinner at home and breakfast next morning. They left on their way to SF, Sacramento and Tahoe for a week. So nice to spend time with them.

Getaway to Palm Desert. Jim & I were able to get out the Jund gloom for 2 days in the desert at the Westin hotel there. Such a nice way to celebrate the end of one season of life and career and look forward together to the new season of work and study to be a financial advisor with Edward Jones! Our state benefits run out just as EJ picks up the salary they will pay while he trains.
I think he is now ready for something like this mentally, physically and spiritually. It has been a journey trusting the Lord these months since Saab and we have seen His faithfulness and direction every step of the way.
It will be challenging ahead, but knowing the Lord is leading encourages us.
I'm excited for Jim to have this new opportunity--a career in a field he likes and a business of his own.

May, 2010

One sewing class this month. Have decided small groups are more easily managed and I can devote time to each student helping them.

Attended my second Deacon meeting. Lots of input. Note: Listen more, talk less.

Mother's Day weekend. Had breakfast with Amy Saturday morning and checked out craft fair in San Juan. Not sure about doing it. It is kind of spread out. Enjoyed time with Amy.
Jim took me out to dinner at new place in SC. Nicks on Delmar. Great place and food. How thoughtful of him.
A lovely mother's day service--one of the most meaningful teachings I have heard on it.
Went over to Amy's Sunday evening for pizza and time with the kids. I am blessed.

Vacation in Scottsdale! We traded our week in Hawaii this year for 2 mainland weeks. This being the first at Westin. Weather was great--warm and lots of sun. The timeshare has a great pool and water slide along with a "river" to float around in. Seems like we spent most of the week in the water, at least the kids did.

Special memories:
Ella & Hannah dancing and singing to Celtic Woman CD.
Watching Jim's Fleetwood Mac CD!
Dinner at twilight on patio around barbecues. Marc bbq'd chicken-yum.
Shopping the trendy malls with Amy.
Taking Ella to lunch with her at Cheesecake factory :).
Dinner out with Jim at Tommy Bahama's restaurant--fabulous food and ambiance. A needed break for us. Thank you Marc!
Playing Candyland with Ella.
Sitting in a chair with Hannah and laughing together.
Watching Marc play with the girls.

Hannah's birthday party. It was at their neighborhood park with family and local friends. Hannah looked so cute in her birthday dress and seemed to enjoy the whole thing alto I'm not sure she understood it was on her behalf. She took a turn at the pinata, sang along on happy birthday song, played with balloon pump, ran with the kids, ran down the sidewalk with Jim after her all the way repeating "running"! She wore her fuzzy birthday crown just like the princess she is!
Can't believe our little one is now 2.

Thanks to those who serve in the military to keep our country free, Jim & my dad included.

April, 2010

Busy month! Beginning with Easter. Amy, Marc & girls attended church with us. Ella went to children's tent services for first time. I managed Ella during teaching time and we sat in on ventriliquist show. She like it. We went to their house for brunch.
Happy resurrection day! I'm so glad He found me!

Small group leaders getaway the next weekend. This was our 5th annual,4th at the Villas in Newport Beach. We met here for lunch and get acquainted, then on to Villa's for dinner shared in and discussion on message in the evening. 8 of us spent the night and next morning taking a break from daily routine. Lynne and I spent the afternoon free time resting and enjoying the pool facilities.

Carlsbad Flower Festival next weekend with 2 days in a booth showing aprons, skirts along with Amy & her friend Christine. The flower fields are unbelievable in beauty! Also fun greeting people and even selling a few aprons! I find I enjoy this kind of activity and may do more. Marc came down with the girls on Saturday and we had dinner at Ruby's following show. The girls were excited to see the festivities. They came down again next day along with Wingers who toured the show and fields. Girls loved playground! 2 long days, but fun. Especially the part of working with Amy.

Month culminated with Ella's 5th birthday party! Where did the time go. She is getting to be an accomplished little dancer and enjoyed her party at the dance studio with her little girlfriends and dance activities. Hannah also managed to "dance" along with the older girls. Amy had made a beautiful dance costume for Ella in black and red. She looked like a princess. Hannah almost took the show with her "free style" dance to the music!
Had treats at Swirlz Frozen yogurt and finished evening with Ella opening gifts.

March, 2010

Happy birthday to me! To my Dad too--he would have been 87. I'm thankful he passed on to the his love of life and ability to enjoy it. I want to cultivate that more and more as I grow older. Life is a gift to be given back.

I went to Disneyland with Amy and our 2 little granddaughters. Can you think of a better way than that to celebrate! We went on lots of rides. It wasn't too crowded. I got to see the girls on Small World, went on Pirates of Caribbean and Jungle Cruise. Ella not too crazy about last 2 but overcame her fear. Much fun watching them in the princess photo corner. Hannah particularly made us laugh with her sweet amazement at each one. What a joy they both are.

Met Jim & Marc for dinner at Islands. Nice day!

This is the month for health checkups. Everything good. Great news after being sick last year and with minor surgeries, etc. I am thankful for my health.
